Winter Season with NPS and EFTA

The new internship season with Environment for the Americas begins at Zion National Park. It was an interesting transition from summer(a 12-week Latino Heritage Internship Program intern) into the winter season (a 35-week Individual Placement intern with Environment for the Americas). Not only was it difficult saying goodbye to such wonderful Rangers I met through my time here, but it became a very empty place during the government shutdown. Thankfully, I still had some of my roommates to go telework with during the week, but it wasn’t the same. Now we have a team on board at our education team for the winter season at Zion. I have had the privilege of meeting such wonderful people from all over the US, from Kansas, and some from Wyoming. I have also met Rangers who’ve worked several seasons in Alaska. It’s nice to see people from all walks of life, especially Latinos, demonstrating what opportunities are yet to come.

This week has consisted of education tech training. We have met all the nps staff we will be working with directly. The training we are in helps us grasp the work we will be conducting throughout the winter season.
