14 Jul Week: número nueve

This week there were two important events that took place. The first was that my supervisor called me one day in the morning and asked me to come down to the visitor center. He asked if I would like to help with the Timucuan hut they were building. I was more than excited to have a reason to leave the office. More than that, I was ecstatic to be part of a team that was able to put together a display that will be open to the public. I can say that I helped make that happen. One of the park rangers said “you have made my dreams come true.” I am thankful that because of my internship I have been able to be part of the maintenance team. I am able to see a different side of the park and how they work with each other to accomplish tasks. Next, I was able to upload my project into their funding website, Project Management Information System (PMIS) and Planning, Environment and Public Comment (PEPC). It just made my project that much more tangible. I may not be able to see it installed, but I would be happy with it being entered into the system and ready to go. Then one day in the future I will receive a text message with a picture of a photovoltaic system being installed. I can look at that and say “I made that happen.” It is something that could not of been done without the opportunity offered by LHIP and the staff here at Timucuan. This is the home stretch and there is no reason to stop now.
