My internship and my family

My internship has influenced my family in many ways. Although my dad has always been an outdoorsy person, my mom is not so much. After telling them about my experiences here at Zion National Park, they have become enthusiastic about making a trip out here soon with the entire family. This is not your typical 9-to-5 office desk job, so it was remarkably interesting. Having them learn the reins of what my work schedule would look like. Half the time. My family would call me. I was up to the Canyon and had absolutely no service. Meaning I did not see any messages until after 6:00 once I was back in a place with connection. At first it was a bit tedious trying to explain to my family that I was not dead, A Mountain Lion had not eaten me, nor did I get hurt, I was just doing what I loved in a wonderful place. That does not have cell towers all the way up the Canyon. It was. Any precious moment, every time I would call my family on FaceTime to describe the wonderful adventures, we had throughout that day. No matter what type of work we were doing. The science topics we taught the children from concrete to Kenyans, and the hikes we took them out to such as hiking the Narrows. My family could not believe we were taking fifth graders and. Teaching them how to hike in the Virgin River and teaching them how to pitch a tent. They even said they wished they could have been in that class while they were in 5th grade. It definitely has opened their eyes too though. Wonderful opportunities that EFTA and the NPS have brought, not only me.
