12 Sep Last week of my internship!
Hello everyone, This is my last week interning at the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. Working in the archaeology department is an experience I am very grateful for. I applied my knowledge and experience in GIS over the summer but I learned so much more here at the park. I learned how to use Inkscape and enhanced my map making skills on Google Earth and Adobe Illustrator as well. The photos shown are from my last field visit which was to the Hennessy property. We surveyed several areas near reptile, research traps in order to find any archaeological artifacts. We ensured the reptile traps were in good condition then relayed the details of the traps over to the wildlife biology department. This was my first time seeing another departments research equipment out in the field. It was very interesting to see how different departments work together and help each other out. I am very happy I am able to put the Santa Monica Mountains on my resume along with the San Bernardino, San Gabriel and Santa Ana Mountains. This experience has enhanced my resume and expanded my professional experience, which I can utilize to my advantage for acquiring other jobs in the future.
