This week I was given an exciting project that included my favorite thing in the world… FOOD.
The project was a cooking video where I was to use a recipe from an old recipe book that used to be sold in historic market square here in San Antonio back during the early 20th century. Looking through the book, I was able to relate to almost every recipe, this was the food my mom, tia, grandma, etc.. made and it made me feel happy to showcase their food.
But as I was reading the recipes, I felt a little bit lost because my Spanish was not enough to understand the older Spanish terms in the book. I had to ask my mother and grandpa to help me translate and together we chose a recipe we know and love. Mexican Albondigas was the recipe I decided to make and I am so glad I did. The day of, I asked… well better yet I made my little brother record me. He hated every second of it, but we got a lot of bloopers to enjoy for the rest of our lives.
I am still editing the video, but as soon as I am done, I really hope you guys enjoy my very novice cooking skills. Keep a look out for the video on the San Antonio Missions Instagram!
