Kenilworth, Adventure Station at REI, Columbia Heights, and Assateague All In 2 Weeks!

It’s been a busy 2 weeks here at the National Capital Region! Latino Conservation Week was last week and there were so many fun events happening all over DC, Virginia, and Maryland. A few that I helped out with turned out great! I met a lot of new people and learned a lot. What I thought was really cool was that the kick of to Latino Conservation Week started on the same day as the Lotus and Water Lily Festival at Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens! Here we had a trivia game set up for kids to win coloring books or fun reading books. We had the same set up for the two days that we tabled at the Adventure Station at REI. I had a good amount of kids who were very excited about the books that were at REI and at the Farmers Market in Columbia Heights. At the Farmers Market we also had the trivia game and cool prizes. I had so much fun at the Farmers Market, even though it was very hot!! We also had a great turn out. There was a ranger led walking tour around Columbia Heights and we expected around 20 people but we ended up having around 60! This past Monday and Tuesday I went to Assateague National Seashore to help with Park Rx. We walked along the trails to gather data but we also made a stop at the beach! I saw some really cool kites and wild ponies. It has been a crazy few weeks and now we are preparing for the Spotlight Challenge next week!
