Introduction: Karla Bonilla

Hello everyone! My name is Karla Bonilla and I am a current Master’s degree candidate at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs. Prior to starting grad school, I attended the University of California, Riverside where I earned a BA in Political Science/International Affairs and History. I grew up in Southern California, and love talking about its food and culture (my background is Salvadoran, so I have strong opinions on what makes a good pupusa). In my free time, you can find me hiking, watching historical/period dramas, reading, or planning a day trip.

This summer, I will be interning at Salem Maritime and Saugus Ironworks National Historic Sites. I am so excited to be placed at both of these beautiful sites and to be able to immerse myself in New England culture and history! I am also looking forward to learning more about the NPS and how I can become a better environmental steward and public servant. Look out for more blog posts from me!
