Hi y’all!

My name is Paola Hinojosa and I am a CSUF graduate with a Bachelor’s in Public Administration and minor in Human Services. I am a first-generation college graduate and I am excited to start working as a Public Information Intern for the Southwest Border Resource Protection Program this summer! I have never traveled outside of California so the 16hr road trip seemed daunting at first but the change in scenery is definitely refreshing. My trek to Colorado was filled with gorgeous scenery- from the red rocks in Utah to the currents of the Colorado river. I did not travel alone however, my best friend Nigel came along to explore.

I’m eager to become involved in conservation in my native language and I am grateful to have the opportunity to raise awareness for the need of my community’s involvement in the preservation of our parks. Growing up in the Central Valley surrounded by agriculture, I hardly had an interest in National Parks. Now, I cannot wait to share why parks are so cool and how to access these resources! As a Public Information Intern for the Southwest Border Resource Protection Program, I will be translating reports to engage with and strengthen our Sister Park relationships and programs along the U.S. and MX border. I am thrilled to update y’all on this 11-week journey!

¡Hasta la próxima!
