16 Jun Grand Canyon Training Week
Search and Rescue Training Hello! Last week was my first week of training at Grand Canyon National Park with the YCC Vegetation crew. During that week, I got familiar with the park and with everyone I’ll be working with, listened to ranger talks, got certified in CPR, went on hikes, and attended lectures about various aspects about the park such as geology, wildlife, radio communication, fire control, the Colorado River, and native/invasive vegetation. Towards the end of the week, I had the opportunity to give a brief lecture about the Grand Canyon’s geology. I talked about the Kaibab Limestone, Toroweap Formation, and Coconino Sandstone along the Hermit Trail. I am looking forward to the weeks to come.
