05 Aug Goal: to fully seize these last weeks

I can’t believe I only have three more weeks until my internship is over! I am really trying to take advantage of these last few weeks as much as I can. It has been such a great experience so far and only gets better every week. I have been working a lot at the front desk of the main visitor center, which has allowed me to really delve into another aspect of working at the park. Every time I work at the desk I learn a lot more about the park. Most questions involve hiking trails and how to get to the main points of interest but sometimes I get tougher questions that I can’t quite answer. Luckily, the park rangers I work with are always really helpful; they seem to know everything! My supervisor wants more photos of the rangers at work, which is why I have been tagging along on ranger programs and taking photos. I especially like the birding programs. I had never done much bird watching before and now I am hooked! Birding has added a beautiful element to my perception during hikes. I now take binoculars with me and am very aware of them of the amazing little creatures flying above me.
