16 Jun First Week After Training
Hello! This is my second week working with the YCC Vegetation crew at the Grand Canyon. The first day went fairly smoothly. We started getting rid of a number of invasive plants in the vicinity, approximately 6,662 plants known as jointed goatgrass. I also got to meet other coworkers who I’ll be working with for the next few weeks. This past weekend, my father and I went out for dinner at the Bright Angel Lodge and found a ring-tailed cat lurking around the pipes trying to snatch packets of sugar from the restaurant. It was unlike anything I have ever witnessed before. I also got to go on a hike and see well preserved fossils in the Kaibab limestone.
