06 Jun First Day Of My LHIP Summer Adventures
Hello all! My name is Jennifer Orellana, and I am the daughter of two immigrant parents from El Salvador. I am currently a student at Metropolitan State University of Denver studying Sports Management with a minor in Recreation Services. I enjoy activities such as hiking, camping, climbing, and everything that my Colorful Colorado has to offer! I can’t wait to see what is in store for me this summer at the Intermountain Regional Office, serving as an education, community outreach and engagement intern for the Latino Heritage Internship Program (LHIP). Let the adventures begin! Today is the start of it all! I walked in and was greeted by everyone with so much joy! The day we both have been waiting for had arrived so quickly. I was shown my desk and work area that’ll be all mine for the summer. It had a huge welcome sign and the desk was full of National Park Service swag. There is no better way to have been welcomed then how today went! As I met with the team, I instantly fell in love with the amazing people I will get to work with this summer, and I can’t wait to get to know them better and share memories! As the team and I were planning out my summer, it was crazy to already think about how short an amount of time I’ll have here. But that also makes it all the merrier to enjoy my time and make it well spent! Here’s to week one being completed, and to many more on the way!
