25 Aug Final Weeks at the Castillo
My last two weeks at the Castillo de San Marcos were really eventful. We finished out our final week of Hands on History camp and I worked at the Junior Ranger station. I was joined in my last two weeks by the National Park Foundation interns as well. Camp went as it had the last three weeks and it was a great way to finish up the summer. The other interns found ways to add on to the Junior Ranger station and really increased the popularity of it by adding interactive games that they played with the visitors. I am so glad I had the opportunity to bring something to the Castillo that can be utilized even now that I am not interning there anymore. I’m so happy I was able to have the opportunity to intern at the Castillo and be able to work alongside some of the most interesting people I’ve ever met. I want to thank the Hispanic Access Foundation and the National Park Service for allowing me to have this opportunity. My supervisor, Amelia Vela, was so helpful and made transitioning into the park easier. Also, all the park rangers, volunteers and other interns made the experience worthwhile. I hope I will be able to come back to the park soon and continue to learn more about the National Park Service.
