30 Jul Final Week

Hello everyone! This is the final week with the Veg YCC crew. On Monday, we were weeding out invasive bull thistles as well as cat nip mints. The rest of the entire week, the crew has been working on the school garden. Everyone has finished up with their specific polygon. All we are doing now is mulching the vicinity to avoid having the invasive weeds grow back. Also, we will be working on the benches in the school garden. We’re going to sand them and paint them brown (in accordance with National Park Service). On Friday, we’ll have a “garden party.” We have invited the park staff as well as the crew’s family members to come to the school and check out the garden. In the meantime, we’ll be giving a PowerPoint presentation with all the pictures that we have taken throughout the internship, including the before-and-after photos of the garden. This will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 pm tomorrow, after we help out the YCC crew with resume-building and assisting them with USAjobs.com.
