Dog Days of Summer

WHISKEYTOWN SITE VISIT

I made it out to Whiskeytown National Recreation Area (WHIS) last week and it was a scorching hot day out there! Out and about from dawn till dusk, the temperature climbed to a toasty 106°F. Perfect weather for… you guessed it: water-based recreation.

Although I spent some time in the cool waters of Crystal Creek Falls, I took advantage of the opportunity to experience WHIS and made my way all around the park. There’s nothing like first-hand experience to understand a place and, as a first-time visitor, I took notes and asked park staff at the Visitor Center lots of questions. The context I gained from my visit will be invaluable as I continue to read planning documents and support WHIS projects.

In less than a week I’ll be presenting and participating at the career workshop in Washington D.C. and I’m counting down the days! I am especially excited to meet the other fellows and hear about their experiences, visit the first exhibition presented by the National Museum of the American Latino, and talk about my art project and various assignments this summer!
